Lis Simon Bridal

We are so excited to be bringing in a couple of new lines that we saw at market.

One designer Anna for Lis Simon is extremely talented. In the line we feel her gowns are celebrating the happy side of femininity with draping, silk, and frothy fan pleating with some pretty gorgeous results. We plan to have an early preview of the line in November so stay tuned!!!!

The other line we will be carrying is Robin Jillian. These gowns are designed for the upscale bride seeking unique fashion forward styling. This is a line that is exclusive to our store. I feel our brides will love the European influence of these gowns and their individuality.

Oh girls, these gowns are gorgeous and I can't wait to help you find your perfect dress!

Vida la vida Chicago!

We just returned from our buying trip in Chicago and I cannot begin to tell you how much fun we had!

Jasmine is celebrating their 25th Anniversary and was so kind to treat their accounts to a dinner cruise on the Spirit of Chicago. Great food, great drinks and most of all great company!!!

Two are better than one!

This is the beautiful newly wed Mrs. Damer who also just happens to be my sister! She also just happens to be wearing a gown and accessories from The Perfect Dress! How could she go wrong?
The wedding was at the Sanibel Resort in Florida where I had the pleasure of seeing another Perfect Dress bride that was married two days earlier. Congratulations, Mandy and Melissa!

The "Paper Dress" Contest

The "Paper Dress" Contest The Perfect Dress hosted the first annual "Paper Dress" contest in conjunction with the Newspaper in Education Department of Fort Wayne Newspapers. Every one of these gowns were made from newspaper and each dress withstood the test of wearabilty as each gown was modeled during the Concordia Prom show. The creativity was endless!

The Joy Dream Wedding Show

The Perfect Dress was honored to be selected to host the fashion show for The Joy Dream Wedding Show held at the Fort Wayne Marriott on Sunday, November 16th. What a great day! We got to meet and talk with a lot of new brides about their upcoming weddings which is always a pleasure.

During the fashion show we featured 74 gowns within a half hour. Whew!
The show definitely could not been pulled off without the generosity of time and commitment to the show on behalf of our beautiful models and dressers.
This was a top notch show hosted in style by the Marriott and we can't wait to participate next year!

It's My Turn!

I always say that once you get through all of your proms and marriage there is not as many opportunities to really get glamed up. Each year I fall in love with so many gowns with absolutely no reason to wear them. However, with our invitation to the Debi awards from one of our fabulous designers Justin Alexander, we did just that. Julie is wearing a black taffeta gown by La Femme and I am wearing a black stretch satin gown by Nicole Miller. The event took place at the Field Museum in Chicago and it seemed at any moment Sue (the largest most complete tyrannosaurus ever found) was going to hop down from her post and join in the dancing. Dinner, dancing, and dinosaur what could go wrong?

Awesome shopping experience in ATLANTA

We spent 7 exhausting/exhilirating days at the Americasmart in Atlanta shopping for prom. We arrived on Monday and by Thursday we had already viewed over 5000 prom gowns!!! How to choose, how to choose!?

It still amazes me that downtown Atlanta is a ghost town after 5 pm. So we were forced to find ways to entertain ourselves. Here we made some quick friends while out for dinner!

Julie and I take a break from our shopping to chat with Johnathan Kayne from season three - Project Runway.

Prom gowns for 2009 are going to be exciting! Expect to see fit and flare skirts, netted overlays, bold prints and sparkle, sparkle, sparkle. Bring it on!

We've been "MEGged"

I fell in love with Meg from the moment I met her. It is her ability to create beautifully unique jewelry that inspires brides to venture beyond the "traditional" rhinestone jewelry while remaining true to themselves. We had the opportunity to host a MEG trunk show in April which gave many "Perfect Dress" brides the chance to work one-on-one with Meg. What an experience! During Meg's visit I learned that Rod, Meg's husband and I share a birthday! And that Meg is a fellow Salsera! I believe that Meg is the closest I will come to ever meeting a real live muse.

Meet me in Chicago!

This is the one time of year that I really look forward to. I get spend 5 lovely days with my best friend and store owner of The Perfect Dress of Salisbury in the windy city for shopping, dining and endless laughter. We have several "must do" on our list for Chicago in no particular order......Rosebud on Rush, Giordano's for pizza, Zanies Comedy Club for some laughs and Greek Island's.....Opa!

Did I happen to mention that we were actually in Chicago for work? This year I took Julie and Liane to assist with the selecting gowns and the opportunity to experience the market. Julie is a fashion major so this was right up her alley. It was a blast!

Meg of MEG jewelry is always eager to spread some cheer. We love her, Rod (her husband) and oh, of course....... her fabulous jewelry!

Beach Bride

My youngest sister Jennifer and Keith tied the knot August 5th on the beach in Hilton Head Island. The beautiful bride is wearing an ivory silk gown and MEG jewelry.

Their first choice of a wedding date was rained out....twice. They ended up having such great weather on the day they actually got married, no one noticed the groom wearing his ring on the wrong hand!

Letting go.....

Ok, so I know that no one really likes change. I am usually one that looks at the glass half full and I am typically really excited for what the future holds. However, with this new change I just think it's easier said than done. Brenda who has been with me since day one....is retiring. She has been a constant in my daily life for the past 4 years. A yen to my yang. Not only will I truly miss working with Brenda our customers will miss her as well. I am sure that she will float around in the background because, I don't think that I can actually ever let her go! Thank you, Brenda for all of your hard work. In her I have found a co-worker for years and a friend for life.
